How Sweet and So Original

A dear friend of ours has started a little shop with custom dyed kids tennis shoes and, soon to be, other items. Her creativity is incredible and I so admire her creations.

Aren't they cute! They make for such a nice gift, with a personal touch. Just let her know what you like to be painted on them.

The site is called Googli B's and although she has not that many items yet, it is definitely worth visiting. And... the more reason to come back and see what's new!

A job well done, girl! I hope you get many visitors and that your enterprise will flourish greatly. :-)

Redneck or Genius part II

In case y'all decide to come over, let us know. I need to make a grocery list, so you ain't doing without.

I can't get too many groceries at the same time, since our Harley still ain't got a basket to put them. Hubbie is working on it though!
We'll check our weather station to see what the weather is gonna be like, so we know if we have to plan for indoor, or outdoor activities.
Maybe we all can go shopping. Don't worry, you don't need to bring any fancy clothes. We're all just common folks! :-)

Anyways, we are looking forward to seeing you. Stay as long as you like. When we get tired of y'all, we'll put the broom behind your chair!

A Fitting Outfit

I may be way too old to wear junior clothing, but oh my, there is a cool junior clothes selection on the Heavenly Couture website, that would totally fit in with my wardrobe!

I love wearing jeans and one of the jeans they sell, is spruced up with Rhinestone crowns on the back pockets. The cut and style are right up my alley!

I like to keep the shirt simple, so it will not distract too much from the jeans and I would opt for a plain white T-shirt and to "top it off", I would choose this Hoodie.

I love the grey, it goes well with anything. The hoodie would keep me warm and provide some wind protection as well. From all I have seen, this is my favorite. Each item is only $17.95, or less, for actual designer brand names!

Just for juniors? Forget it! This grandma just got her outfit!

Dear Diary

I sometimes wonder what goes on in our dog's head. Seriously! She can look at you and it's just like she is thinking. Okay, maybe I have too much time on my hands to be considering something like this.

I don't have to wonder anymore though. Someone found their diaries and published some of it. Even though I think it to be an invasion of one's privacy, I couldn't help but reading it.

Uh oh, isn't there a saying about curiosity killing the cat? Well, if you are a cat-owner, I would recommend you find yourself 8 more lives. At least that would even the score!!!

EXCERPTS FROM A DOG'S DIARY:
8:00am - Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30am - A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00pm - Lunch! My favorite thing!
1:00pm - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00pm - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00pm - Milk bones! My favorite thing!
7:00pm - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY:

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear I, nevertheless, must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them I, once again, vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Idiots! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

For
now...

Make It Known

I so wish I had known about these car door magnets before! When our daughter got pregnant, we were so happy and when our grandsons were born, it was such a miracle, I would have wanted the entire world to know.

Of course we do all we can to let everyone of our family and friends know. We call, invite them to see the newborn and send pictures by e-mail and snail mail. Still, it's only a minor group and the urge for everyone to rejoice with us is hardly satisfied.

A car door magnet would have been the perfect solution to reach many more people. Look at the example below, wouldn't that draw your attention?!

It is so easy to design a magnet. The text, colors and appearance of the magnet can totally be adjusted to my own likings. I could pick from several already designed templates, but I also could upload my own design, or even a picture, if I wanted to.

There is a lot more VistaPrints offers. Checks, rubber stamps, announcements, business cards and so much more. All of these can be customized to your likings and it doesn't even have to be business-related, like advertisement. It can be a personal announcement. Whatever you desire!

I think a car door magnet reaches more people, then shouting it from the roof tops! :-)

Redneck or Genius!

I would like to show you our mansion. To be honest with you, it's nice to have all that space, but it's a little too big for us. Besides, the cleaning is a pain. Oh well, as we say here: The sky is the limit!

At least the grass is done real quick.

So you won't have any problems getting to the guest house, whenever you come over.

Ohhhh, we will have a cook-out, while you're styaing. We got this new grill and it works like a charm! Actually, it is multi-functional. It's a grill and microwave in one.

You may call us Rednecks, but you gotta admit, we are pretty ingenious when it comes to inventions! grin.

A Nice Stay

One day we will go to Disney World! I am so looking forward to it. I don't know if I would want to stay in a hotel on the park though. It seems like it would be pretty busy and crowded. One of the Lake Buena Vista hotels might be better to stay in.

It must be good, since the "2008 American Urological Association Annual Meeting" is being held in it. It's most convenient to stay at while attending the AUA convention.

Not only is it well equipped for conventioneers and attendees, it also is a great location for vacationing families and business travelers. The hotel is close to Pleasure Island, House of Blues, City Walk, Downtown Disney and several more Orlando attractions. They are only a few minute drive away and restaurants are within walking distance.

A stay The Lake Buena Vista hotel is extremely affordable. They offer great rates and has rooms available for any last minute booking.

No one will be bored during their stay. Disney World is close at hand for the kids. The Florida Mall is nearby for Moms and the Orlando Convention Center is a few minutes away for Dads. Another thing the hotels lend themselves well for, is socializing and dancing. In other words, the hotel is in an excellent and very convenient location!

Sounds to me like they have anything and everything for everyone close by!

Fruit

I would like to bring this drawing to your attention. It expresses the abundance of delicacies we have and to even be in the position to purchase those, whenever we like, while there are so many who aren't able to. A true blessing, huh?!

It also reminds me of the fruit of the Spirit:

Galatians 5:22-24
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Wouldn't the world be a better place if we could all practise that?! :-)

You can see more of my work in the side-bar.

Happy Easter!

I would like to wish y'all a very Happy and Blessed Easter!I know it is going to be a busy day for everyone. Families gathering together, kids looking for Easter eggs, family dinners etc. etc. I thourougly enjoy it!

I had to get used to Easter being only one day here in the States. In the Netherlands (actually I think it's all over Europe, not sure though) Easter is two days: Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Don't ask me where that originated from, I have no clue. That is worth an investigation sometime, huh!

I hope y'all enjoy the day and let's keep in mind what we are celebrating! :-)

In Case of Emergency

You, and me for that matter, are one of the million people leaving home every day. We don't consider the fact something might happen to us, which requires contact information for paramedics In Case of Emergency (ICE)!

That problem can easily be solved by putting the ICE sticker on your cell phone. You can obtain it at icesticker.com and there are 4 easy steps to follow:
1. Choose a responsible person.
2. Inform them.
3. Add contact info to phone.
4. APPLY the ICE STICKER.

Many already have gone before you and ensured emergency contact information would be available to paramedics, by applying the ICE sticker.

Join this steadily growing global campaign. It can save your life!

Culture Shock!

I had no clue what it would mean to be married to a redneck. Look what hubbie has in mind for our weekends and vacations!!! I think we need to talk. grin.

Oh yeah, it's sturdy. The only thing we have to take into consideration is to distribute the weight evenly, so we won't flip over. That presents us with a problem when we have visitors.

If you think this is genius, wait till you see our house!

Transform your Home

Unfortunately, we smoke. Yes, that's a bad habit and we do intend to quit. One of the side effects is, you constantly smell the smoke throughout the entire house. That is why we like to use an air freshener.

Even if you don't smoke, a fresh smelling house is always nice and TriScents has some great fragrances. You can now sample the product by downloading and printing the coupon and redeem it at your local store. A click of  a button is all it's takes. It's that easy!

By printing the coupon you can also enter to win a $20,000 Home Makeover! Wow, I would love that. There are so many things we would like, or need, to replace. We have so many ideas for remodeling and talk about it frequently. We will do it, when we have more money than cents. Winning this promotion would definitely be a huge help!

I am sure it would for you as well. To enter, see official rules and make your own video, or write an essay. The video should not be longer than 2 minutes and the essay only has to consist of a maximum of 250 words, or less.

The video, or essay, is a great way of demonstrating, or expressing, why you need a Home Makeover. Show them, tell them, convince them! Win the promotion and make your wish come true!

Catching Zzzzz

Yeah, that's what I ought to be doing right now. It's only 6.07 AM but I am awake.

Can't help it, but we sure rise early these days. I guess the older you get, the less sleep you need.

I am not sure whether that is entirely true. I need an afternoon nap most of the time and we crash pretty early at night. So we do get some sleep in, it's just not continuous.

Oh well, the early bird catches the worm! grin.

Sparkling

Cleaning is never done. We may postpone it and sometimes even close our eyes to it, but it isn't going to clean itself, unfortunately, sigh! But oh the rewarding feeling after having it done and everything is spic and span... again, hehe!

It's already a major task without any aching joints, it takes several times longer with. But here are some joint-friendly tips for big housecleaning jobs, that may come in handy, even if you don't have RA or Arthritis:

"Prioritize.
Decide which cleaning projects are best suited to spring. Save the rest for summer, fall and winter projects.

Plan your attack.
Tackle tasks in an efficient order. Some jobs are better for morning work, others are best left for later. Switch from hand work to reaching work to bending work to avoid stressing any one part of your body too long. Avoid the urge to do it all at once. You can spread any one project out over days or weeks, if necessary. For example, tackle overhead cobwebs one room at a time.

Rest on schedule.
Plan rest periods every 15, 30 or 60 minutes to conserve energy. Forging ahead may let you cross another task off your list sooner, but often sooner means sorer.

Take it with you.
Avoid repeat trips to the closet for cleaning supplies by wearing a work apron with pockets for bottles, sponges and rags. Don't load up too much or the apron may become heavy and stress your back and shoulders. Or try a wheeled utility cart to transport supplies from room to room. Another option is to buy multiple supplies and store them in key areas of your home, such as the bathrooms and kitchen, and on upper and lower floors.

Choose the right tools.
Use joint-friendly cleaning tools, such as long-handled dustpans. Choose tools and products that are made to be lightweight, automatic, long-handled, ergonomic or quick-acting. Get caught sitting down. When possible, use a bar-height stool with footrests to allow you to sit during projects, such as polishing silver.

Protect your joints.
Don't grip cloths when cleaning. Keep your hand flat when moving the cloth or use a duster that fits over the whole hand. When cleaning with water, use a large sponge instead of a cloth, so you can squeeze out the water easily by pressing down on the sponge with the palm of your hand.
~by Rosanna Scott Posted 2/17/07, Arthritis Foundation."

Just as our homes, we need to clean and examine our inner-selves on a regular base and get rid of sin. We may postpone it and sometimes even close our eyes to it, but it isn't going to clean itself! But oh, the reward after having done it! :-)

Especially for Men

Go through a magazine and you will find one add after another. I don't know how many commercials pass the screen in one evening of watching TV, all for the same products, namely women's skin care.

But what about men's skin care? After-shave lines and fragrances are pretty much it. Anthony.com fills that gap and has developed an extensive line especially for men's skin. General skin care and products for rough dry spots, eye area and anti-aging, are just a few of the array of men's skin care products. All is allergy tested as well.

Visit the website, browse to your heart's content. No doubt you will find something you have been needing for a while. By purchasing the products you will also participate in a good deed. A percentage of Anthony For Men proceeds is donated to charities in support of the fight against prostate cancer!

Youth

There is a Dutch saying: The youth has the future.

But what if that same youth is seriously physically ill? I look at our girls and grandbaby and can only be so grateful they all are healthy. Yeah, they all do have their small ailments every now and then, but nothing major. Unlike some other children, who go through huge trials, like Kaeli for instance and little Rebekah, who has suffered such a great deal in her young life. God bless their little hearts!

I suspect you may know someone in your own neighborhood or community as well. If you can, try to be supportive and encouraging. It's so needed for everyone involved!

Smart Recipes

I have been posting a lot about Gulf oysters, because I think it is important to be informed. You need to know what you eat, what to look for, what to avoid and what to be cautious about. That doesn't mean you shouldn't eat them. On the contrary! Oysters are not only extremely tasty, but nutritious as well. Eat them all you like and enjoy. Just be smart, be informed about how to eat them and take precautions when you are in the "at-risk" group.

The Be Oyster Aware website offers all you need to know about oysters and I strongly suggest you pay them a visit and read up on it!

Another thing you will find on their website is oyster recipes. Lots of them and all are mouth watering and safe to eat for everyone.

The recipes are developed by Mississippi State University researchers and the Mississippi State Department of Marine Resources. They have an entire recipe book that is free to download and contains so many delicious oyster dishes, you probably won't know which one to prepare first.

It's all in there. Grilled oysters, oyster cakes, oyster dips and for the pizza lovers amongst you, even oyster pizza. If you can't find a recipe there, that would appeal to you, then I doubt you can find it anywhere else.

Enjoy your meal! :-)

Quote

There are many good quotes going around. Some are just outright funny and don't require a lot of thinking. I however, love the ones that make a point, or jog my brain to consideration. I may not always agree with it, but that hardly ever occurs.

Take this one for example:
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner.
Liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the decision of the wolves."
~B. Franklin.

I had never heard or read this before. It sure makes good sense and I can see how it's true. What is so intriguing to me, is wondering how or when he came up with it. I suspect while having dinner. Maybe lamb-chops? What do you think??

Little Treasures

Oysters are not only known to be good to eat, but also as little treasure chests. Sometimes an oyster can surprise you with a pearl and several stories have been told of people finding pearls, while eating oysters.

Suppose an oyster would contain something else instead of a pearl. If I could choose what that should be, I would like it to be a small picture of a grandchild, child, or another loved one, showing their cutest smile or grin.

Just imagine, you would be opening an oyster and there is that beautiful face, grinning at you. Or you are brought a platter with delicious Gulf oysters and all those little treasures are greeting you. Wouldn't that make your day?! I know it would mine. It definitely would make my meal even a l
