In Times of Loss
My father died when I was not even two years old, so I don't have any memories of him. What I do remember is, my mother and I going to the cemetery, at least once a month, to clean it up, plant flowers and at times wash the headstone. The cemetery had a care taker, but he only saw to the graves when he got paid by families of the diseased, to do so. My mom couldn't afford it. Times were tough enough on her as it was. I know we don't like to think about death, funerals and everything involved, but at one point we will all be confronted with it. The Gravesite Masters have a wonderful website, that addresses everything surrounding and needed, to make a great loss a little less painful. They provide the best products and services for cemetery grave sites. Grave site care is one of them and stone cleaning and restoration are one of their specialties. They also offer cemetery products like vase, flowerpot and wreath holders. For Sympathy and Funeral flowers, as well as floral products, this is absolutely the best service nationwide. Same day flower / floral delivery for any occasion, in both fresh-cut and artificial bouquets and arrangements. All done with excellence, integrity, and a profound respect for the individual.

A Degree In Blond VI
Returning home from work, a blond was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once, and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was the first to respond.
As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blond ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps.
Putting her face in her hands, she moaned:
"I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!"
Poor critter! What a perfect example of assumptions. Have you noticed how much we assume? Just pay attention to yourself and look where it is you misinterpret a tone of voice, read between the lines instead of actually listening to the words said, or take a certain action or pose the wrong way?
Instead of asking outright for what we need, we assume we already know. How many misunderstandings have come out of that? How many friendships and other relations have gone by the wayside because of that?
How much hurt have we caused ourselves and others by assuming we knew it all?! :-)

Time Flies
The other day, my father in law was visiting. At one point he showed us his new watch. His old one had given up, and while talking about his new watch, he mentioned he was not really happy with it. He in particular didn't like the band. His preference goes towards stretchy bands, which suit better around his wrist. He also didn't like the fact that it was a cheap one. From what I understood, it was not running on time. I think he would love the Baume & Mercier watch below. Jewelry watches like this, are much more his style.
I will mention The Watchery website to him. He can really take his pick from all kinds of brand watches at large discount prices, since TheWatchery is the most discounted luxury watch site online. They offer free watches with almost all purchases! So, my father in law could get another one, if he wanted. In case he does not want a free watch with his purchase, he can pick one from a large selection at 80% off. The choice of brand watches is enormous for both men and women. Whether you are looking for Movado watches, Breitling, Gucci, or any other brand, this is the site to find them. Ordering is easy and shipping is free all across the U.S. We may order him one for Father's Day.

Hand Prints
Looking at the coffee-table,
I can't help but smile.
Two little hand prints caught my eye,
I think I'll let them stay a while.
They are a silent reminder,
And yet, it's like they shout:
"Time flies by, he grows up fast!"
Is what they are pointing out.
Even just the thought of you,
Fills our hearts with love and joy.
There's no measurement for our gratitude,
To God, for this little boy.
Those little hand prints.....
Yeah, they will stay a while! :-) ~Corryc.

Sleep Well
I know from experience how important a good night sleep is. Without being fully rested, I get cranky, loose concentration and lack energy. I usually fall asleep with the TV on, just to have some white noise surrounding me. The sound of the TV covers all other noises around me. The barking of our neighbor's dogs, the cars driving by, and also the sounds made by our daughter, coming in late. I would probably benefit with one of the white noise machines. The Sound Oasis S-650 has twelve relaxing sounds and functions as an alarm clock as well. That would "sooth" me just find.
Hmmm, it would even help our grand babies sleep better!

Facts of Supplementing
Although it may not seem so, supplements and vitamins are actually a form of medication. As the word already indicates, they are to supplement the deficiency that may have occurred, or strengthen the immune system to fight diseases. They also can give the body what it needs, to keep functioning and remain healthy. Most vitamins and supplements are being taken in on a daily basis. With a healthy diet, the likely hood of a shortage of vitamins and supplements are slim to none. However, in our current lifestyle, time is sparse and "fast-food" is a quick and easy way out. Yup, that last goes for the so needed vitamins as well, haha. In case you do need to supplement, keep this in mind: "What are dietary supplements? Dietary supplements, including plant- and animal-derived products, are not classified as or considered to be drugs, but that doesn't mean they can't act like them. To be classified as a dietary supplement, a product must be taken by mouth and contain a "dietary ingredient"-that is, a substance intended to be taken in addition to, not instead of, consuming healthy foods. Overall, dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids and any part of those substances, such as extracts or concentrates.
Why do I need to talk to my doctor about the supplements I take or want to take?Plants produce chemicals just as people and animals do. Those chemicals, although from a source found in nature, can have effects in the body that range from mild to potent, just like chemicals produced in a laboratory. Because supplements are, in fact, chemicals, they have the potential to interact with the chemicals in man made medications. That's why you need to get the go-ahead from your doctor about supplements - not just once, but each and every time you consider trying one.
How are dietary supplements different from medication? When you go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, you have three layers of protection between you and the product. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reviewed and approved it, your doctor has considered your history and prescribed it, and your pharmacist alerts you to possible interactions with other medications you're taking. Even with an over-the-counter medication, there's the FDA layer of protection, and your pharmacist is accessible to answer questions. But with a dietary supplement, there are no protective layers between your hand and the product on the shelf. ~Arthritis Foundation."Having to add what you lost, should tell you that something is wrong. Instead of constantly dealing with the consequences and supplementing to make up for it, it is better to attack the problem. Diet and exercise can improve both your health and your overall life.

Music To Your Ears
Our daughter and her hubby are real "Guitar hero"-lovers. They enjoy this game so much and would probably be players to take into account, in the ENGOBI contest. I would not be surprised if they would win the Xbox 360™ -enabled, customized Fender® Stratocaster, ENGOBI gear, or one of the other prizes.
ENGOBI brings two caffeine infused snacks, that have been taking over the stores. It comes in two great flavors: Lemon Lift and Cinnamon Surge. It's a great snack to nibble on, while playing. All month, an ENGOBI van will be visiting nine East Coast and Southern cities, handing out snack samples, ENGOBI gear and giving you an opportunity to play this game vanside. Don't miss out on this great chance to be the hero!

A Degree in Blond V
A blond in her fourth year as a UCLA Freshman, sat in her US Government class. The professor asked her if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about.
She pondered the question, then finally said: "That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware ."
That was an open door. The professor should have seen that coming!
Why is it, that when a child would give the same answer, we consider that to be so cute. But when a grown-up gives it, it is being considered stupid, blond, dense.
Could it be that we look at it as being lack of education? Lack of consideration? Lack of brain-cells? Or could it be, the more education we have, the more knowledge we get, the more our minds are forced in a box?
That sure would explain where the expression: "Think outside the box" comes from!

Meeting Needs
A while back I was complaining about our address labels and what a hassle they are. Now look what I found, self inking address stamps! I can choose from a small, or a large full-color custom address stamp.
These pre-inked rubber stamps come in a plastic casing and I have the option between either the ink color red, black or blue. Uploading my own design is another possibility. Actually, the stamp can be totally custom made after my own likings. I was quite surprised to read those stamps are good for at least 5,000 impressions. That will last us a few years. All this is just for my own personal use, but suppose you have a business. Self inking stamps are definitely a time and money saver. Logos, graphics or just text, the VistaPrint free online design studio makes it easy to create your own custom stamp. There is an array of stamp templates available, so if you are not that creative yourself, no problem! It may sound like a lot of work, but designing your personal stamp is so easy, it's done in a matter of minutes. And it's not just for stamps, but also for business cards, checks, announcements, and even car magnets. Any printing need you have, VistaPrint meets them all.

A Degree in Blond IV
A blond was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says: "Go ahead, ask me, ... I know 'em all." A friend says: "OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin ?" The blond replies: "Oh, that's easy. It's W." No one reading this, can point a finger at her for lying. She knew her capitals. One can not accuse her of being lazy. She put forth a lot of effort in studying the capitals. One can not blame her for taking pride in her knowledge. She was right in her answer about the capital.
Yup, it is all a matter of perception and understanding. We may be laughing about her misunderstanding about the capitals. Or... was it a false perception on her part? She may be laughing about us, over-complicating things. Ignorance is a bliss. BTW, Ignorance starts with an "I"! :-D

Vitamin B12
Although we have to be careful not to overdo with vitamins and supplements, they are essential for our body. There are times the variety in our food is lacking and a deficiency of especially B12 vitamins can occur. I remember when I was in high school, one of the girls in my class was a vegetarian. She fell sick and later I heard she lacked vitamin B12 and had to have a shot to provide her with those necessary vitamins. It was a painful experience for her and she got a list of foods she needed to take in to prevent this from happening again. Nowadays those vitamins come in pills and by putting one under your tongue to let it dissolve, it goes straight into the bloodstream. The pills consist of vitamin B12, B6 and folic acid. Vitamin B protects against illnesses and conditions and occurs more often than one may think. It helps gastric bypass patients, and those with digestive and pancreatic disorders, as well as vegetarians and vegans. Click here to get your own box of Trivita Sublingual B 12. It increases your energy level, improves your memory, protects against Alzheimer's and also reduces heart disease risk. The fact that 10 million boxes already have been sold, says enough!

Be Wise, Take Time
While reading, you may encounter some words or terms, you may not be familiar with. You may already know the meaning of some of them, but it doesn't hurt to refresh your memory. Here is a list of the most commonly used terms and their explanation: Clinical trials: Human studies. Cytokines: Chemicals produced by the body that trigger the inflammatory process, for example, C-reactive protein, interleukins, tumor necrosis factor (TNF). DHA: Docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid, found in fish oil. EPA: Eicosapentaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid, found in fish oil. mcg: Microgram: a unit of measurement, 1/1000 of a milligram. mg: Milligram: a unit of measurement, 1/1000 of a gram. NSAIDs: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Since we are becoming much more conscious about our health, our food, exercise, activities and medications, we tend to be a bit too quick and too drastic, by grabbing anything of the shelves that we may think would be beneficial. Resist the temptation and look before you leap. You may have heard great testimonies of others, who have used a vitamin or supplement. Keep in mind, what works for them does not necessarily mean it will work for you. There are a lot of things to take into consideration, before supplementing. "The claims about what supplements are supposed to do for you certainly may tempt you to try one, two or more. But practice safety first. Trying a supplement shouldn't be a decision you make on a whim, while you're browsing through products on a shelf. Learn all you can about products before you risk your money or your health. To be a savvy consumer and make the right choice, follow these seven tips: - Be wary of unrealistic claims, such as the product will "cure" or "prevent" arthritis. It is illegal for supplements to make such claims. - Talk to your doctor about a supplement and whether it would be safe to try. - Do not stop taking your prescription medications unless directed by your doctor. - Find out if the supplement will interact with other medications or other supplements you are taking. - Determine if potential side effects outweigh the potential benefit. - Shop around for reputable brands. - Know how much to take and how often to take it. ~Arthritis Today, Arthritis Foundation." Don't react on a feeling. It may be a false feeling of obligation, or an invalid feeling. Don't let yourself be pushed into using a product, because of the convincing advertisements. Whatever someone is trying to convince you of, it may not be for the best. Take your time to read up on it, learn, and study.

Heavy Metal Good For Music, Not For Body
Many years back, I heard and read that cleansing your body of toxics which had accumulated throughout time, was extremely healthy and beneficial. It also was supposed to be a prevention for future diseases. It was recommended the intake would be nothing else but fruit and vegetable juices, for a period of about two weeks. One was not supposed to eat any solid food, just drink these juices. This method was also referred to as "flushing your system". It never appealed to me. My metabolism is pretty high and living on just juices would, for me, have result in fainting frenzies. However, heavy metal poisoning does occur in the body. Getting rid of it is done by chelation therapy. A safe method which not only eliminates all the toxic metals from the body, but also improves the overall health condition and even cures several diseases. Whereas chelation used to be done intravenous for a long period of time, today's method is a lot less painful and time consuming. An easy 6 week program enables you to improve your health, cleanse your veins and arteries, and get rid of diseases, with affordable oral chelation. Interested? Check out the Foundation Program and take the first step to better health.

A Degree In Blond III
A blond suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead.
Well, the blond is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head. The boyfriend yells: "No, honey, don't do it!!!"
The blonde replies: "Shut up, you're next!"
This girl may not be as dense as she comes across. Let me clarify:
She had the notion to go and buy a gun and made a plan to barge in on her boyfriend, when he least expected it. Pretty clever, I would say.
She also was wise enough, to buy the gun at a store where either no one had ever heard of ignorant blonds and knew not to sell them one, or... she picked out a gun shop where the seller was a blond as well.
In other words, don't underestimate a person, just because of their hair color! :-)

Pretty Wild
Compared to The Netherlands, the States are so large, nature is everywhere, and I have seen animals wandering around, I had only seen on tv. I can tell you that made all our travels pretty "wild" for me. Since I have lived in the States for only a few years, I have not been on many vacations yet, but we sure hope to soon. There are so many attractions and cities we would like to see, the list is quite extensive. I would love to see the neon lights at night in Las Vegas. Things to do in Las Vegas are numerous, but that is the main attraction and on top of my list, while visiting this bubbling city. Even though I don't like crowds that much, I would love to visit New York or Chicago. We have dear friends living near Chicago and I have no doubt they would love to show us all the things to do in Chicago. Trusted Tours & Attractions offers discounted tickets to the best sightseeing tours in 23 cities across America. That will keep me busy for a while. Trusted Tours & Attractions also has a special promotion going on. If you sign up for their newsletter, you enter to win a $150 iTunes gift card. Don't wait, get that Trusted Travels eNewsletter! Offer ends Saturday, May 31st, 2008.

How To Stir The Pot
Botanicals and herbs all have their own unique consistency and contain different vitamins, supplements, medicinal ingredients, chemicals and some even poisons! So be careful before you resort to them. When you do, make sure to stick to the recommended dose and the preparation methods. There are several ways how botanicals and herbs can and should be used. Below are some of the terms explained, you may encounter. "Tea: Tea is one of several ways botanicals are sold. Also called an infusion, tea is made by adding boiling water to fresh or dried plant products - stems, leaves or flowers, usually - and steeping them to release their active ingredients. Tea isn't the only way that botanicals and herbs can be used.
Concoctions and Decoctions: Tea requires just a few minutes of steeping but some plant products require a little more time for their active ingredients to be released. A concoction is simply a mixture of herbal ingredients that can be prepared in a variety of ways, usually with heat. When the heating method is boiling, the mixture - usually of roots, bark or berries - is called a decoction.
Liquids, Extracts and Tinctures: Botanicals are sold in liquid forms, such as oils, extract-containing drinks, syrups and tinctures. Tinctures are preparations made with alcohol and water. Extracts can be made with many different liquids (solvents), and that liquid is often evaporated to make a dry extract. Dry extracts are put into capsules and tablets. Tinctures and extracts are usually more concentrated than teas. When looking at the recommended dose, it is important to notice the form of the product. For example, a dose might be three cups of tea per day or one to three teaspoons tincture per day.
Fresh or Dried Herbs: Herbs can be grown at home or purchased fresh-cut at a market. Air-dried, freeze-dried or fresh, herbs can be used in cooking or for making tea. ~Arthritis Today, Arthritis Foundation." Although it may seem, because all these herbs and botanicals are natural, you can't go wrong with it, I have to emphasize again... you can! Taking too much, or not preparing it the way it should, can lead to either results to the contrary, or no results at all. So, read up on it before stirring the pot. It is not good to "wander off" on your own. Even though you may have the best intentions in mind, you might think you are doing one thing, while you actually are doing another. You may not achieve your goal, if you don't know what guidelines to follow and might end up hurting others as well as yourself.

The End Of The Tunnel
It's encouraging to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's even more encouraging to know WHEN!
~Corry. When we start out doing something, we usually have a goal in mind. Sometimes, the road to reach that goal is a little longer then other times. The closer we get to the end of the road, the more the end-result comes in sight. But... it can happen we run into some bends in our path that might obscure the end of the journey. Or something happens, throwing us back a few steps. Best thing to do at those times is to keep on trucking. There is light at the end of the tunnel and with persistence and perseverance we will get there! :-)

A Degree in Blond II
Being blond myself, I can appreciate a good joke at the expense of blonds. I sympathise and empathise though, since I have experiences some blond moments myself. It may be a bit embarrassing when it happens, but they make for a good laugh afterwards.
I can't help it, I think the jokes are hilarious.
A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The very blond wife picked up the phone, listened a moment and said: "How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up. The husband asked: "Who was that?" The wife answered: "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear."
I honestly don't believe it pertains either to only blonds, or to just women. So, if you would like to share a "blond" moment, I am all ears! :-)
